Position Overview
Project Support Services (PSS) is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager II (SPM II) to support the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Facilities Services Division. This executive-level leadership position is responsible for overseeing multiple large-scale capital improvement projects while providing leadership, direction, and oversight to Owner's Authorized Representatives (OARs) throughout all phases of construction.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned construction executive with extensive experience managing complex public works, educational facilities, or major commercial construction programs valued at more than $50 million. This role requires exceptional leadership, technical expertise, fiscal management, and the ability to successfully deliver high-profile capital improvement projects.
What You'll Do
Manage and provide leadership and construction oversight to multiple Owner's Authorized Representatives (OARs)
Develop, assign, mentor, and evaluate OAR performance across multiple capital improvement projects
Resolve complex construction issues, disputes, claims, and project challenges
Review project status, schedules, milestones, and overall construction progress
Review contractor change orders and evaluate schedule and budget impacts
Assist Regional Directors and Facilities leadership with bid planning and contract strategy
Review bid specifications for constructability and schedule feasibility
Monitor construction schedules, budgets, forecasting, and cost control reporting
Review and approve contractor applications for payment while maintaining fiscal oversight
Provide executive-level oversight of:
Construction schedules
Cost controls
Contract administration
Dispute resolution
Quality assurance
Oversee administration of architectural, engineering, and consultant contracts
Coordinate project activities with District departments including:
Environmental Health & Safety
Design & A/E Technical Support
Asset Management
Facilities Contract Administration
Inspection Unit
Maintenance & Operations
Local District representatives
Develop and recommend policies and procedures that improve project delivery
Prepare executive reports and brief District leadership regarding project performance
Perform other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must meet ONE of the following qualification combinations:
Option 1
Twenty (20) years of full-time paid professional project/construction management experience
Ten (10) years managing large capital programs with individual construction projects valued at more than $50 million (not cumulative)
Five (5) years of experience managing educational facility construction, public works, or large commercial construction projects
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in:
Architecture
Engineering
Construction Management
OR
A Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential from the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) may substitute for the education requirement.
Option 2
Twenty-five (25) years of full-time paid professional project/construction management experience
Twenty (20) years managing large capital programs with individual construction projects valued at more than $50 million (not cumulative)
Five (5) years of experience managing educational facility construction, public works, or large commercial construction projects
Preferred (Not Required):
Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management
Certified Construction Manager (CCM)

Highly qualified candidates will also possess experience with:
Design-Build project delivery
Building Information Modeling (BIM)
LEED Certified projects
Collaborative for High Performing Schools (CHPS)
California Division of the State Architect (DSA) design and construction processes
Preferred Licenses & Certifications
California Registered Architect
California Professional Engineer (PE)
Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
