Position Overview
The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) is seeking a Senior Project Manager II (SPM II) to provide high-level construction oversight, supervise OARs, and ensure adherence to District standards for multiple complex projects.
Position Description
Manage and provide construction oversight to OARs
Resolve complex construction project-related issues, disputes, and disagreements
Develop, assign, and monitor the performance of OARs relative to assigned construction projects
Review overall construction project progress relative to submitted schedules
Review change orders from construction projects and assess their impact on the District
Assist Regional Directors and Facilities management staff with bid and contract planning
Assess bid specifications for District needs and the probability of completion within the timeline
Review and monitor variances of the project database for schedule and cost control
Review and verify submitted applications for payment and perform overall fiscal management of multiple projects
Provide functional direction over construction project schedules, cost control, dispute resolution, contract administration, and quality control
Review and monitor the administration of contracts for architects and consultants
Coordinate program activities with other District divisions, including EH&S, Design and Technical Support, Asset Management, Facilities Contract Administration, Inspection Unit, Maintenance and Operations, and local districts
Review and take recommended actions to resolve disputes related to projects
Develop and recommend internal policies and procedures
Perform other related duties as assigned
Minimum Required Qualifications
Must be clearly demonstrated on resume to be considered.
17 years of full-time paid professional project/construction management experience
5 years of experience managing large programs with projects valued over $50M (not cumulative)
5 years of experience in educational facility construction, public works, or large commercial projects (may include projects outside California)
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management
OR bachelor’s degree in any field with the ability to complete the Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential within one year of employment
OR more than 20 years of construction/project management experience with the ability to complete the CCM credential within one year
OR possession of a valid CCM credential in lieu of a degree
Preferred Qualifications
Design Build experience
Experience utilizing BIM
Experience with LEED and/or CHPS
Experience with DSA processes
Licensure as a California Architect or Professional Engineer
