We are currently seeking a Project Engineer II – Technology to support the Los Angeles Community College District’s (LACCD) building program. In this role, you will provide technical and engineering support to project teams, ensuring construction and technology systems are delivered in alignment with project goals, regulatory requirements, and District standards.
You will play a critical role in coordinating with contractors, reviewing construction documents, supporting field operations, and assisting in the successful delivery of complex capital improvement projects.

What You’ll Do – Your Mission
Provide technical and engineering support to Program Management Office (PMO) and College Project Teams (CPT), including Project Managers and Construction Managers
Coordinate with contractors, architects, engineers, inspectors, consultants, and District personnel
Participate in and support design and construction meetings
Perform field inspections of construction, demolition, and renovation projects to verify compliance with plans, specifications, and Division of the State Architect (DSA) requirements
Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and shop drawings
Assist in preparing reports, correspondence, procedures, and project documentation
Support development of weekly and monthly project status reports, including photo documentation
Review, evaluate, negotiate, and process construction change orders and field orders
Monitor and enforce construction and professional services contracts
Coordinate and track contractor and consultant performance, including review and approval of invoices
Identify project risks and support development of mitigation strategies
Assist in resolving construction and design issues
Coordinate responses to Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, and construction change documents
Prepare and distribute meeting minutes for project meetings
Verify contractor maintenance of record drawings prior to progress payments
Maintain organized project files and documentation
Review submittals for compliance with plans and specifications
Perform additional duties as assigned by management
Minimum Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in:
Engineering
Construction Management
Business Administration
Or a related field
Additional qualifying experience may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis
Experience
Minimum five (5) years of recent professional experience in:
Project engineering
Construction management
Or a closely related field
Knowledge & Skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

Strong organizational and coordination skills
Ability to read and interpret construction documents and technical drawings
Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with installation of:
IT systems
Networking infrastructure
Access control systems
Audio-visual systems
Experience working on:
Educational or campus construction projects
Division of the State Architect (DSA) projects
Large public works programs
Professional certifications such as:
Professional Engineer (PE)
Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
Or equivalent credentials
Additional Requirements
Ability to work on-site at various project locations
Ability to coordinate across multiple teams and stakeholders
Ability to maintain accurate project documentation and records
