Position Overview
The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) is seeking an Owner’s Authorized Representative I (OAR I) to oversee construction projects across all phases — pre-construction, bid and award, construction, and close-out.
Position Description
Manage, oversee, and coordinate all facets of assigned projects from pre-construction through close-out
Review pre-construction documents and provide comments to the Designers
Prepare reports for upper management regarding project progress and status
Coordinate with public agencies, District departments, and project staff during pre-construction and construction phases
Manage project budgets and schedules to ensure accuracy and compliance with District standards
Oversee daily contractor activities, review contractor schedules and submittals, and respond to inquiries
Review substitution submittals for compliance with District specifications
Negotiate Contractor Change Order Proposals to achieve fair pricing and review schedule impacts in accordance with project specifications
Monitor and review payments for contractors, architects, engineers, and consultants
Administer provisions of Professional Service Agreements
Coordinate District delivery of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E)
Oversee DSA certification and financial close-out of projects
Perform other related duties as assigned
Minimum Required Qualifications
Must be clearly demonstrated on resume to be considered.
10 years of full-time paid professional experience in construction and/or project/construction management of commercial or public/educational facility projects
3 of the 10 years must include full responsibility for coordinating complex projects with construction values greater than $10M
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management
OR bachelor’s degree in any field with ability to complete Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential within one year of employment
OR possession of a valid CCM credential in lieu of degree
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Design Build, BIM, LEED, CHPS, and DSA
OSHA 30 minimum
Licensure as a California Architect or Professional Engineer
CCM credential
