Key Responsibilities
Resolve complex construction issues, disputes, and disagreements.
Provide leadership, assign responsibilities, and evaluate the performance of Owner’s Authorized Representatives (OARs) on assigned projects.
Track project progress against construction schedules; review and act on change orders.
Support Regional Directors and facilities management with bid and contract planning.
Assess bid specifications for feasibility and alignment with district needs/timelines.
Monitor the construction project database for schedule and cost control variances.
Review payment applications; manage budgets and fiscal controls across multiple projects.
Provide functional direction across scheduling, cost controls, dispute resolution, contract administration, and quality assurance.
Oversee administration of architect/consultant contracts.
Coordinate activities with other district units: Environmental Health & Safety, A/E Technical Support, Asset Management, Contract Administration, Inspection, Maintenance & Operations, and other local districts.
Contribute to the development of internal policies, procedures, and process improvements.
Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements – SPM
Experience
17+ years of full-time paid professional project/construction management experience.
5+ years managing large programs with single projects valued over $50M.
5+ years experience in educational facilities construction, public works, or large commercial projects (may include projects outside of California).
Education (one of the following)
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management, OR
Bachelor’s degree in any field + CCM certification within 1 year, OR
20+ years of Construction/Project Management experience (no degree) + CCM credential within 1 year, OR
Current Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential in lieu of degree.
Preferred Qualifications
Design-Build project experience.
Proficiency in Building Information Modeling (BIM).
Past experience with LEED-certified or CHPS projects.
Strong familiarity with DSA construction/design processes.
Preferred Licenses & Certifications
Valid California registration as an Architect or Professional Engineer.
CCM (Certified Construction Manager) credential from CMCI.
