Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all project phases: pre-construction, bids/awards, construction, and close-out.

  • Review and provide input on pre-construction documents to design partners.

  • Prepare and present project status and financial reports to executive leadership.

  • Coordinate with public agencies, internal departments, and stakeholders to meet compliance requirements.

  • Manage budgets and schedules, ensuring monthly reviews reflect accurate project progress.

  • Direct contractor activities, review schedules/submittals, and respond to RFIs.

  • Review substitution submittals and ensure compliance with district standards.

  • Negotiate and approve change orders, ensuring fair pricing and timely resolution of schedule impacts.

  • Approve and process contractor, architect, and engineer payments.

  • Administer Professional Service Agreements (PSAs) with architects and consultants.

  • Coordinate the delivery of fixtures, furniture, and equipment (FF&E).

  • Manage close-out activities, including DSA certification and fiscal close-out.

  • Perform additional duties related to project and construction management as required.

Minimum Requirements

Experience

  • 15+ years of professional experience in construction and/or a combination of Project and Construction Management for commercial, public, or educational facilities.

  • 5+ years managing complex projects valued over $20M.

Education (one of the following)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management, OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with CCM credential completed within 1 year, OR

  • 20+ years of Construction/Project Management experience (no degree) with CCM credential within 1 year, OR

  • Current Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential in lieu of degree.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Design-Build project experience.

  • Proficiency in Building Information Modeling (BIM).

  • Experience with LEED-certified and/or CHPS projects.

  • Familiarity with Division of the State Architect (DSA) processes.

  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations (OSHA 30 minimum).

Preferred Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid registration as a California Architect or Professional Engineer.

  • Current Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential.
