Key Responsibilities
Provide direct management and construction oversight to OARs.
Resolve advanced construction project issues, disputes, and disagreements.
Oversee and evaluate OAR performance across multiple assigned projects.
Track progress of all projects against approved schedules; review change orders for district impact.
Assist district executive leadership with bid and contract development strategies.
Evaluate and recommend bid specifications based on feasibility and likelihood of on-time completion.
Monitor construction project database for cost/schedule variances and initiate corrective action where needed.
Oversee fiscal management, including payment applications and multi-project budget performance.
Provide senior functional direction for project controls, contracts, quality management, and dispute resolution.
Ensure compliance and monitor execution of contracts for architects and consultants.
Coordinate activities across district departments, including EH&S, Technical Design, Asset Management, Contract Administration, Inspections, and M&O divisions.
Review disputes and provide recommended resolutions for executive approval.
Advise on and develop new internal policies and procedures to improve district project management.
Perform other related executive-level duties as required.
Minimum Requirements – SPM II
Experience
17+ years of full-time paid professional project/construction management experience.
5+ years managing large programs with single projects valued over $50M.
5+ years experience in educational facilities construction, public works, or large commercial projects (may include projects outside of California).
Education (one of the following)
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management, OR
Bachelor’s degree in any field + CCM certification within 1 year, OR
20+ years of Construction/Project Management experience (no degree) + CCM credential within 1 year, OR
Current Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential in lieu of degree.
Preferred Qualifications
Design-Build project experience.
Proficiency in Building Information Modeling (BIM).
Past experience with LEED-certified or CHPS projects.
Strong familiarity with DSA construction/design processes.
Preferred Licenses & Certifications
Valid California registration as an Architect or Professional Engineer.
CCM (Certified Construction Manager) credential from CMCI.
